North Yorkshire Subaru Owners Club FORUM CODE OF CONDUCT
Welcome to the N.Y.S.O.C. Forum.
Below are the guidelines for using this forum.
INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE
The use of inappropriate or offensive language is not permitted on NYSOC Forums. Inappropriate or offensive language includes, but is not limited to, any language or content that is sexually orientated, sexually suggestive or abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, or that contains racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind. We ask that you please be considerate to other members in the Forum when posting your messages.
We encourage every user to treat every other user with mutual respect. Do not use the NYSOC Forum to threaten, harass, stalk, or abuse others participating in any discussion. Refrain from all expressions of bigotry, racism, hatred, or profanity.
The NYSOC Forum is designed to be accessed by people of all ages, including children. Excessive and inappropriate foul language will not be tolerated.
NYSOC does not tolerate disruptive activity online, such as persistent off-colour comments and postings or statements that incite others to violate this Community Conduct Code or participate in illegal activities.
If you are in doubt as to whether the content you wish to post is appropriate, please contact one of the Moderators who can advise you on the issue. You can contact us via email at
admin@NYSOC.CO.UKManagers and/or Moderators who manage the NYSOC Forum may eject or ban users, as well as remove postings that violate this Community Conduct Code.
PERSONAL ATTACKS
The following strict penalties will apply for personal attacks made by members towards any other member of the forum. This includes, but is not limited to, character assassination, threats of violence, intimidating language, personal insults and calling each other names.
First offence = written warning
Second offence = one week ban
Third offence = lifetime ban (by both IP address and email)
If you feel that someone has broken this rule, do not retaliate. Rather, inform a moderator, or email
admin@NYSOC.CO.UKLeave it for the moderators to sort out - most enquiries will be handled within a 24-hour period.
Enforcing this rule is at the discretion of the forum moderators. If you feel that you have been unfairly dealt with, email
admin@nysoc.co.uk"
PRIVATE MESSAGES
The same rules apply to private messages as apply in the forum area. Do not abuse the Private Message system in any way. It is not there to provide an avenue for 'off the record' harassment. Complaints received about Private Messages will be dealt with in the same manner as complaints received from the general forum.
MEMBER NAMES AND USER INFORMATION
While NYSOC encourages the use of usernames within our community, members who sign up with names that contravene the above rules on harassment and profanity will be asked to change them.
Likewise, people whose avatars break the rules on profanity or harassment will be asked to remove them.
MEMBER SIGNATURES
A limit has been set on the size of people's signatures. Please endeavour to keep your signature as short as possible, and please refrain from posting images within your signature. This is to assist members with slower connections - please be considerate.
No SPAM - No Selling - Except in the 'For Sale' Forum or by Authorised NYSOC sponsors.
Please don't "SPAM" through the NYSOC Forum; no one likes it. You don't, so it's fairly obvious that our users don't either. To SPAM includes sending identical and irrelevant submissions to many different Forum areas. Usually such postings have nothing to do with the particular topic of the group or are of no real interest to those on the mailing list. To SPAM also includes misrepresenting the source of anything you say or post. Spamming is a serious violation of online etiquette.
NYSOC reserves the right to ban a user at any time, without notice, from any or all Forum areas for spamming.
The NYSOC Forum areas are not designed to be used as a mechanism for operating your business or providing core information about your business UNLESS you are an authorised NYSOC sponsor. You may use the 'For Sale' area of the NYSOC Forum to assist with private sales of goods between members. However FOR SALE posts will not be accepted from new forum members until they have contributed at least 20 posts to the main NYSOCforum first , to prevent people using the NYSOC forum as purely a sales medium and not contributing to the NYSOC community.
Any use of the NYSOC Forum for commercial purposes is solely for authorised NYSOC sponsors who have signed up and paid the appropriate fee to advertise on the NYSOC forum.
FORUM ETIQUETTE
If one of your fellow forum member’s requests information please provide that information to the best of your knowledge in a polite and friendly fashion. If that forum member has created a thread and they have specifically asked for it to stay on topic, please refrain (where possible) from dragging it off topic... This isn't to say that you can't have fun here - just bear in mind that if someone is after some proper information, they should be entitled to have their query heard and answered in the shortest possible time.
Please also be aware that posting messages in ALL CAPS, all italics or all bold is considered bad etiquette... please refrain from doing so.
Remember that you are responsible for anything you say or post.
Some Forum posts may provide Internet website links in their area. Please be advised that NYSOC is not responsible for the content on the websites associated with the links you may view.
Some content and links on the Internet may contain adult content and may not be suitable for children. Please do not post links of that sort to this Forum. Any user found to be doing so will be banned.
You are responsible for any actions you may take based on advice or information you receive online. Use your own good judgement when evaluating information provided through any Forum post, remember that the information provided could be from people at any age and experience level. The decision to conduct transactions with anyone is your own and you should conduct your own research prior to making any decisions.
Thanks to everyone for respecting these basic rules...
Regards
