What are Moderators?
Our Moderators are here to monitor and (where necessary) edit / move / delete posts in order to protect the short and long term good of the Club and the Forum. They are active members of the club, they give up huge amounts of their own time (free of charge) to help the club. They follow a strict set of guidelines which have been developed and refined over the years.

If your post is moved, edited, locked, deleted, etc... this will NEVER be a direct or personal attack on you. It will only be as a result of the guidelines that you can see below and will always put the Club or Forum first, over any individual's personal ideals.

When will my thread be edited/deleted?
o Pornography, links to Pornography or links to other inappropriate sites.
o Swearing : Whilst the censored versions of swearing (eg s**t, etc) are usually considered OK, offensive / overuse of this may offend and may be moderated. In addition to this, any deliberate circumvention of the swear word filters is prohibited. Common sense prevails. Eg, the use of images which have swear words in them are not acceptable.
o Incitement to a flame war within this or any other forum. Do NOT Flame or Troll. Flaming, flamebaiting, and trolling are NOT allowed ANYWHERE on this site! This rule applies to posts, signatures, and PMs. Flaming is directly insulting another member, flame-baiting is making a comment with the intention of getting a flame as a response, and trolling is the act of making posts with no purpose other than to annoy people.

o Any sort of pyramid selling or referral schemes
o The advertising and sale of illegal bootleg material (such as copied DVDs, VCDs and computer software)
o Xenophobia, racism or personal abuse
o Spam or any other form of unauthorised advertising.
o Anything invasive of a person's privacy.
o Anything that is deemed by the Moderating Team as potentially libelous.
o Flagrant disregard for the interests of the community(anti community spirit)
o Sensitive content that cannot be moved, locked edited.
o No part of the topic/message is salvageable by editing Illegal/defamatory statements
o Remove any copyright-infringing material (either text or graphic)
o Basically, whenever there is no value to the community that demands leaving the topic/message in place.

Editing is always visible, whenever a message is edited, the date/time/edit author are shown within the message

The Moderators reserve the right to remove, or edit any thread for legal or other reasons.

When will a thread be locked
o If there are persistent abuses of the behavior mentioned above.
o Unacceptable behavior (as determined by the tone of the community; e.g. making inflammatory comments, flame wars etc etc)
o Completely off-topic discussion
o No part of the topic/message is salvageable by editing

The Club reserves the right to lock any thread for legal or other reasons.

When will a thread be moved?
o When the thread clearly belongs in another forum
o When the topic moves onto a subject more appropriate to another forum.

Note: While we of course try our utmost to ensure threads are in the correct forum, ultimately it is down to the poster to ensure that the correct forum is being used in the first instance. While the moderators do try there best to ensure everything is categorised correctly, some threads may get missed. From time to time we will review forum structure and may make changes as and when required.

it is difficult for us to continually review all posts. All messages express the views of the author, and neither NYSOC or its administrators or moderators will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to the rules of this you agree that you will not post any messages, avatars or images that are obscene, vulgar, sexually or racially orientated, hateful, threatening, distasteful or offensive, of a libelous, slanderous or defamatory nature or otherwise violative of any laws. This applies but is not limited to, any of the above being directed toward the users, members, administrators, sponsors or suppliers of NYSOC , NYSOC itself or the forums it provides.

Any topics recommending services or parts that are not one of the club sponsors will be deleted or edited to remove the suppliers name.

This is to protect our club sponsors.

We will tolorate NO negative comments about other clubs or their sponsors anymore any post/topic like this WILL be deleted without warning.

Commercial posts
Commercial Posts may be locked or removed if posted in any forum. A commercial post is defined as any post by employees or their associates that benefits either, directly or indirectly the company involved. This includes any company press releases, statements or advertising of practices of any kinds. Authorised Advertisers can apply to the Club for Advertiser Status which would give them freedom to Promote their company and services.

Racist posts/comments
We will NOT tolerate racist comments. The members in general will not tolerate it either, which is displayed in any topic that someone posts a racist comment.

No matter how innocent or "jokey" the comment may be, this medium is a black and white text only medium, where thousands of people may view your comments.

Repeatedly posting of racist comments will result in being banned and / or potentially more serious action being taken.

Above all else, use your common sense, and be respectful and decent to people and companies.

Invisible - There is a rule also on the forum that nobody remains invisible. There is no need on a Club Forum for anyone to be invisible. Anybody logging in invisible will have their profile reset.

Signatures & Avatars - These must be kept to a sensible size please. Anything pornographic or advertising another car forum will be removed. this includes links to other car forums on members profiles.

Cancelation on Membership - We reserve the right to cancel membership at any time if we feel that the account holder is or has caused any agaravation. This includes, Threataning members or Staff, also inaproprite posts that do not comply with the forum rules. No membership fees will be refunded due to the fact that the rules have been broken. No membership will be refunded midway through year for any member choosing to leave.

No poaching! This means no contacting our members with details of another forum in the hope of getting our members to post on that forum instead.

Anybody breaking these rules will be subject to a seven day ban, repeated misuse of the site may result in a complete ban.

Thanks

A new 2 strike rule is now in affect. Which will run along side the rules up top.

We will NOT tolerate racist comments. The members in general will not tolerate it either, which is displayed in any topic that someone posts a racist comment.

No matter how innocent or "jokey" the comment may be, this medium is a black and white text only medium, where thousands of people may view your comments.

Abuse or threatening behaviour to a member which can be proved.

Actively bringing the club into disrepute.

1. Verbal warning

2. GOODBYE with no refund,,

Hope that makes sense

North Yorkshire Subaru Owners Club FORUM CODE OF CONDUCT

Welcome to the N.Y.S.O.C. Forum.

Below are the guidelines for using this forum.

INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE
The use of inappropriate or offensive language is not permitted on NYSOC Forums. Inappropriate or offensive language includes, but is not limited to, any language or content that is sexually orientated, sexually suggestive or abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, or that contains racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind. We ask that you please be considerate to other members in the Forum when posting your messages.

We encourage every user to treat every other user with mutual respect. Do not use the NYSOC Forum to threaten, harass, stalk, or abuse others participating in any discussion. Refrain from all expressions of bigotry, racism, hatred, or profanity.

The NYSOC Forum is designed to be accessed by people of all ages, including children. Excessive and inappropriate foul language will not be tolerated.

NYSOC does not tolerate disruptive activity online, such as persistent off-colour comments and postings or statements that incite others to violate this Community Conduct Code or participate in illegal activities.

If you are in doubt as to whether the content you wish to post is appropriate, please contact one of the Moderators who can advise you on the issue. You can contact us via email at admin@NYSOC.CO.UK

Managers and/or Moderators who manage the NYSOC Forum may eject or ban users, as well as remove postings that violate this Community Conduct Code.

PERSONAL ATTACKS
The following strict penalties will apply for personal attacks made by members towards any other member of the forum. This includes, but is not limited to, character assassination, threats of violence, intimidating language, personal insults and calling each other names.

First offence = written warning
Second offence = one week ban
Third offence = lifetime ban (by both IP address and email)

If you feel that someone has broken this rule, do not retaliate. Rather, inform a moderator, or email admin@NYSOC.CO.UK
Leave it for the moderators to sort out - most enquiries will be handled within a 24-hour period.

Enforcing this rule is at the discretion of the forum moderators. If you feel that you have been unfairly dealt with, email admin@nysoc.co.uk"

PRIVATE MESSAGES
The same rules apply to private messages as apply in the forum area. Do not abuse the Private Message system in any way. It is not there to provide an avenue for 'off the record' harassment. Complaints received about Private Messages will be dealt with in the same manner as complaints received from the general forum.

MEMBER NAMES AND USER INFORMATION
While NYSOC encourages the use of usernames within our community, members who sign up with names that contravene the above rules on harassment and profanity will be asked to change them.

Likewise, people whose avatars break the rules on profanity or harassment will be asked to remove them.

MEMBER SIGNATURES
A limit has been set on the size of people's signatures. Please endeavour to keep your signature as short as possible, and please refrain from posting images within your signature. This is to assist members with slower connections - please be considerate.

No SPAM - No Selling - Except in the 'For Sale' Forum or by Authorised NYSOC sponsors.

Please don't "SPAM" through the NYSOC Forum; no one likes it. You don't, so it's fairly obvious that our users don't either. To SPAM includes sending identical and irrelevant submissions to many different Forum areas. Usually such postings have nothing to do with the particular topic of the group or are of no real interest to those on the mailing list. To SPAM also includes misrepresenting the source of anything you say or post. Spamming is a serious violation of online etiquette.

NYSOC reserves the right to ban a user at any time, without notice, from any or all Forum areas for spamming.

The NYSOC Forum areas are not designed to be used as a mechanism for operating your business or providing core information about your business UNLESS you are an authorised NYSOC sponsor. You may use the 'For Sale' area of the NYSOC Forum to assist with private sales of goods between members. However FOR SALE posts will not be accepted from new forum members until they have contributed at least 20 posts to the main NYSOCforum first , to prevent people using the NYSOC forum as purely a sales medium and not contributing to the NYSOC community.

Any use of the NYSOC Forum for commercial purposes is solely for authorised NYSOC sponsors who have signed up and paid the appropriate fee to advertise on the NYSOC forum.

FORUM ETIQUETTE

If one of your fellow forum member’s requests information please provide that information to the best of your knowledge in a polite and friendly fashion. If that forum member has created a thread and they have specifically asked for it to stay on topic, please refrain (where possible) from dragging it off topic... This isn't to say that you can't have fun here - just bear in mind that if someone is after some proper information, they should be entitled to have their query heard and answered in the shortest possible time.

Please also be aware that posting messages in ALL CAPS, all italics or all bold is considered bad etiquette... please refrain from doing so.

Remember that you are responsible for anything you say or post.

Some Forum posts may provide Internet website links in their area. Please be advised that NYSOC is not responsible for the content on the websites associated with the links you may view.

Some content and links on the Internet may contain adult content and may not be suitable for children. Please do not post links of that sort to this Forum. Any user found to be doing so will be banned.

You are responsible for any actions you may take based on advice or information you receive online. Use your own good judgement when evaluating information provided through any Forum post, remember that the information provided could be from people at any age and experience level. The decision to conduct transactions with anyone is your own and you should conduct your own research prior to making any decisions.

Thanks to everyone for respecting these basic rules...

Regards

NYSOC Committee and Forum Admin
